I'm reflecting back on this past weekend and am so thankful about all that went on at COTHA. The obvious thing my have been the community gathering, onsite, for the annual church picnic. To see all the goodwill and fun was very satisfying. The number of people that it took to put on such a grand celebration numbered in the dozens. Thanks to all who gave of their time and energy to make sure the games were staffed, the burgers and dogs cooked, chairs and tables set up and on and on. The dunking tank was AWOL given some sort of mechanical issues. I promise, I did not sabotage it! A special thank you to Polly and Neil Stratton who went well beyond the call of duty to make sure we all had such a great time!!
I am also thankful for the wonderful testimonies at all three of all services this past weekend. We were participating in Orphan Sunday for the first time and listening to stories of families who have been involved in the foster care system as well as adoptions was inspiring. I want to thank the Thompsons, the Readings and the Lennards for inspiring us and showing us how we can respond to God's call to care for orphans and widows.
The last thing I want to mention, and there's more than just these things to celebrate, is the blessing of our people who are going to Guatemala to build a water well. They leave on Saturday. Please keep these people in your prayers as they represent us all by going into the world and putting God's word into action: Tom Kitchen, Debbie and Steve Blank, and Dessie Pierce. May God protect them and bring them back safely to us with stories of how God moved among them.
What a weekend! What a church!!
